The pain of the loss of Margaret Anderson can be seen across her home town of Eatonville. Flags are at half staff in honor of the fallen ranger.
“Everybody knows everybody or at least knows of them, so it effects everyone hard when you hear stuff like this,” said Rhiannon Foster who works in a downtown business. “There’s been a lot of people that have been in here that have expressed their concerns for her family and her kids.”
Anderson was gunned down inside the Mount Rainier National Park, leaving behind a husband and two girls, ages four and two.
“I have four kids of my own and just sad to see you know someone taken away from their family,” said Eatonville resident Peter Quirin. “You know your heart just goes out right away,” Quirin added.
Residents said the small community will always remember the tragic loss.
This is so incredibly close to our heart to see something like that is happening,” resident Enayat Sobhani said. “We are all definitely affected by it.”
