Jan Marini Marini Lash
Launched in 2005 and relaunched this year with a new peptide blend, the product is designed to keep lashes coated and conditioned, reducing breakage and allowing the lashes to appear lusher and thicker.
Cost: $160 for a six-month supply.
Where: janmarini.com and through salons, spas and doctor's offices.
Revitalash
Among the first innovators in the field, Revitalash was created by ophthalmologist Michael Brinkenhoff for his wife, whose lashes had become sparse and brittle after chemotherapy. A combination of cosmetic ingredients -- among them panthenol, sodium chloride and citric acid -- helps condition and generally improve the attractiveness of lashes within a few weeks.
Cost: $150 for a six-month supply.
Where: revitalash.com; numerous online retailers.
Dermaquest Skin Therapy's DermaLash Color
Designed to be used as an eyeliner during the day, this is the first lash enhancer with minerals to add color -- indigo, black, plum and cocoa. Ingredients including peptides, copper, biotin, panthenol, hydrolized wheat, soy proteins and hyaluronic acid, help condition and strengthen lashes.
Cost: $95 for a six-month supply.
Where: Spas, doctor's offices, online retailers.
NeuLash
Three types of peptides are combined with copper, biotin, licorice and other conditioning ingredients to help thicken lashes. In the manufacturer's clinical trials, women using it reported an increase of 41% in thickness after a few weeks.
Cost: $150 for a four-month supply.
Where: Saks, Neiman Marcus, online retailers.
Latisse
The FDA-approved product has a prostaglandin analog as its active pharmaceutical ingredient and needs to be prescribed for treating "eyelash hypotrichosis" -- basically, not having enough lashes. The bottle of solution comes with 60 disposable applicators.
Cost: $120 for a one-month supply.
Where: From prescribing doctors; a list can be found at latisse.com.
