TEMECULA -- An unemployed mother of five is accused of robbing four banks in the past two months, two in Riverside County and two in San Diego county.

Police in Temecula arrested Roxanne Renee Pennock, 37, last week after stopping her minivan on Interstate 15 near state Route 76 shortly after a Chase Bank in Temecula was held up.

Police say they found evidence in Pennock's van connecting her to the crime.

Investigators say Pennock has also been connected to the Oct. 22 robbery of a Bank of America, also in Temecula.

Pennock pleaded not guilty Tuesday to two counts of robbery and two counts of burglary at her arraignment in Riverside County. She remains in jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

After her arrest, Sheriff's deputies searched Pennock's home in Poway, where she lives with her husband, four sons and a daughter. They found evidence at the residence linking her to all four robberies, according to Poway sheriff's Sgt. Baven Coff.

Pennock is accused of using a semiautomatic handgun in the robbery of a San Diego National Bank on Poway road on September 29th. FBI officials say the suspect in that case pointed the weapon at a bank teller, yelled at her to get down and used a blue and black duffel bag to carry the cash. A hooded sweat shrit and what appeared to be a mask obscured her face. The bank was less than a half a mile from Pennock's home.

After getting the money, the woman ran from the bank, according to the FBI. A nearby elementary school, where Pennock's youngest child, a girl, attends school, was locked down for two hours while deputies searched for the robber. The suspect was last seen running east behind a shopping center along a creek in the direction of Pennock's home.

The second Poway robbery happened Oct. 13 at a U.S. Bank near Scripps Poway Parkway and Pomerado Road. The robber, matching the description of the earlier suspect, this time used a demand note and did not show a weapon, according to the FBI.

Pennock had worked at the Costco in Poway earlier this year but was laid off.

Neighbors say Pennock told them she had recently come into some much-needed money that she was using to pay bills.
